Germany part 4 : Kiara

Day 1: I am so excited to see Kiara! Today we went to Basteibrücke, and walked around there. It was very pretty, and I got to climb rocks around that area. We are staying at the four lions hostel.

Day 2 : Today we went to Konigstein fortress. Kiara and I went ahead to play for a little bit.

Day 3 : We walked a different trail to Basteibrücke. We also went to play at a little beach that Kiara found.

Day 4 : Kiara and I went to the woods by her house and built a fort. We stayed there nearly the entire day. We also saw a cat and called it Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Day 5 : We biked to a large park today. It had many ropes and bridges and a hamster wheel. We stayed there for a while and then we went back home. My friend and I went back to the fort and we saw that an area was roped off. Kiara went in and found an old object under a rock. She thought it was an old bomb. She called her dad who worked for the EOD. He said it might be. We also showed my parents a play that we made up.

Germany part 3 - Salzburg, München, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Nürnberg

Salzburg : We went to the Hohensalzburg fortress, where we saw the marionette museum. We didn't get to go far inside though. Then, my sister wanted to watch a trick bike competition. After that, we went to the Domgrabungs museum, and saw all the old church pieces that they excavated. After that, we saw Mirabell gardens, and we wandered around and found a playground. The last thing we did was Hellbrunn gardens, which was kind of pretty. There were a few fountains, and I found another playground.

München : In münchen, we first went to the Olympiastadion. I saw the eisarena, but it was closed and I didn't get to go inside. After that, we went to the Nymphenburg gardens. There were cool statues of greek gods and a huge fountain. After that, we wandered around a little behind the gardens. Then, we went to the old town, and watched the glockenspiel. The glockenspiel is really cool. Finally, we went to the English gardens. There were a few fountains, and a cool area on the river that people could surf on.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen : First, we took a cogwheel train up to Zugspitze. We got to climb a few rocks, and sled on a glacier. It got really foggy after that. We took a cable car up to zugspitze, but all we saw was fog and clouds. My family has bad luck with mountains and weather. After that, we went to Eibsee for a little bit, and stayed to watch the ducks by the bridge. Last, we went to Partnachklamm. It is a gorge where there is a natural tunnel near the river. I did not like that. It was too loud and cramped for me. Also, it kept dripping on me.

Nürnberg : Today, we went to Nürnberg and saw the old Nazi party grounds. We walked around the lake a little. After that, we walked around the old town a little, and saw someone playing a marimba. We also saw a living statue. I am currently on a train to Berlin to see my best friend. YAY!

Germany! Part 2 - Heidelberg, Rothenburg, Neuschwanstein

Heidelberg : We went to Heidelberg and saw the old town. We went up to a castle that was very old (and ruined). After that we saw a cathedral where the bones of the Three Wise Men were. We found free water (only one I have seen in Germany forever!)

Rothenburg : After Heidelberg, we went to Rothenburg. My family walked around the old town, and we walked around the old wall. After that, we found a park on the edge of the wall, and then we had to go back to the train station.

Neuschwanstein : After Rothenburg, we went to Neuschwanstein (Literally new swan stone) And got a tour. It was built in the 19th century, but was modeled after the middle ages (and a few operas.) There was a small room that looked like a cave, modeled after one of king Ludwig's favorite plays.
after that, My family went to the marienbrucke to go on a hike.

Germany Day 1 - Flight and Frankfurt

Yesterday I went to Germany. I did not like the plane ride because I had a cold. After I got there, I walked around Frankfurt. I saw a lot of old buildings and took a few pictures. I saw a cool playground, but my sister didn't want to play, so we couldn't stay there. My friend and I Skyped for a little bit before bed, and the I fell asleep.

I went camping last weekend. When I was there, I went swimming. I went down to the lake every day. I liked it because I collected a lot of rocks. I also had a lot of tasty food, like s'mores, hot dogs,  & donuts. It rained for part of the day on Saturday. I got a book called 'mammals of Minnesota.' My sister got a harmonica. I saw a dead squirrel and 2 dead frogs, too.

Camping/Moon

Today I am going camping at Fort Ridgely. I think it will be fun. We will probably walk on the ruins of the fort. We are sleeping in my grandpa's camper. and I get to stay up late.We might get to go in the museum.
Did you know that fort ridgely was built as a police station in the 1800s and withstood several attacks in the U.S.-Dakota war?

We are going on a new moon. that means the moon is dark (or not in the sky). the full moon this month is called the strawberry moon. January's moon is the wolf moon, December has the cold moon, and September's moon is the corn moon.

End of the trip

The second day in Bergen I played with the cat a little bit. I had fun. We went to a fortress and on a fjord cruise. The cruise was very beautiful and I pretended we were in a magical kingdom with a tiny village at the end. At the end of the cruise there was a waterfall that I got to drink the water from.

The next day we went to a composer's house. It was a neat place with an old house. He had a little composing hut and we got to see his house. The hut was a small little thing, so cute with a bed and desk. It was so beautiful on the lake. Then we saw a piano concert there and I heard some of his music.

The last day in Bergen we did a glacier hike. On the hike there was a little lake. It was very windy and very stormy but we did get to see the glacier ice. On the bottom we had a snowball fight.

On the way home I got sick and threw up after we landed. But otherwise it was good to be home.

Last Days in Oslo and first days in Bergen

We saw three ship museums. Kon-tiki, Fram, and Norwegian Maritime Museum. I thought they were. I liked the ship and the kids' exhibits. At the Fram it had the giant polar ship and games to try being a polar explorer. The lighthouse in back was made out of trash from the harbor.

At Holmenkollen there was an obstacle course that we walked on. We went up the ski tower and I got to take a picture under the Olympic rings.

The long train ride was the most beautiful train ride in the world. I thought it was amazing. I drew a picture. There was a couple places where I got bored but it was nice.

Today we walked up Mount Fløyen. There was a climbing park with a tree house. We could see the city and part of the ocean.

Stockholm Day 2 and 3 Days in Oslo

On day 2 in Stockholm we went Gamla Stan aka old town. We also went to the medieval museum and the Nobel prize museum. At the medieval museum I learned that in the villages instead of telephones they yelled at each other across the street. There was a kid's room at the Nobel prize museum with a puppet theater, books, and a video about Alfred Nobel. We saw the Royal guard and band marching down the street near the medieval museum, and then later saw the changing of the guard outside the Royal Palace.

We did an overnight bus to Oslo. We woke up from the bus really early and then went to Oslo still kind of sleepy. We went and hiked around a fortress with awesome rocks and Kjirsten and I played warrior cats as Stoneclan. We were tired so we came home a relaxed for a while and then we went to the botanical gardens. At the botanical gardens there was a Viking garden shaped like a boat and information about the Vikings. There were also bones and a millstone and a throne.

Yesterday we went to we did a river walk and then went to the sculpture garden. On the river walk there were lots of playgrounds and a miniature children's museum. We also saw the oldest building in Oslo. It's almost a thousand years old. On the way to the sculpture park we saw the church and it looked kind of like the one in Wittenberg. In the hymnal we found some songs we recognized in our hymnal! We also stopped at the Royal palace and pond. There was a nice man at the pond who let us have some of his bun to feed the birds with. Then we went to the sculpture garden. All the statues were naked and some of then were things we do as a family like piggyback rides and cuddles and squishing daddy.

Today we went on a ferry to hovedøya and saw jellyfish on the beach. We found out the water was salt water from the ocean. We found that out after I licked my finger. We didn't go swimming because I didn't want to swim with jellyfish. We hiked and we saw lots of nature and army barracks and monastery ruins that are almost 900 years old. Then we went to the oldest open air museum in the world. We saw traditional folk dances and it was raining so we had to cram inside a building. Then we went to the Viking ship museum and saw a video of Viking funerals and one about recreating the boats and one about Viking trips and trade and looting and killing.

Stockholm!

On the flight we got to watch a movie and I watched Born in China, a movie about animals - a monkey, deer, cranes, snow leopard, and pandas. I liked the food a little. We went on two flights, from Minneapolis to Amsterdam and then to Stockholm.

Today we went to the oldest open air museum in the world. They had a zoo area where I got to see a lynx, a wolves, a seal, otters, monkeys, and lemurs. We also got to see glass molding, and he was making tiny glass elephants. I tried a pastry like a sugared pretzel, which I liked. There were lots of old historic buildings and a squirrel playground. I climbed up the leaves and it was really hard to climb up the second leaf. I never made it to the third leaf.

On our way back we got a ferry ride. Then just our family went on a little hike and saw the river and lots of locks on the fence. Mama said they were for people who were engaged or in love. We saw views of the city.

Cabin this weekend

We are going to a cabin this week. It will be fun. I still wish my friend Kiara was here. The cabin isn't in a state park. It's on a lake. My grandparents, an aunt and uncle and my cousins are coming. We're going to go kayaking and canoeing. I'll get to use a kayak all by myself! My sister and I might get to canoe alone.

My Time in Florida

Monday night we got to Florida late. We were so excited that when we pulled up to the gate, we could hear Kiara scream from our car. Then she started banging on the windows and I got out and we hugged each other as tight as possible, like we did when we left Germany.

Tuesday we went to Bayfront Park. We swam in ocean water. It was salty and I had to spit out what got in my mouth. We could barely see the bottom. After it was too deep for me to touch it was dark from the weeds. There were no alligators or sharks though.

Wednesday we went to the Miami Zoo. It started pouring while we bought the tickets but it stopped right away. I got some good pictures and videos of the tigers. When we were at the tiger pen the tigers started playfighting. At the animal show we saw beautiful birds and cheetahs - well, one cheetah. I learned that cheetahs don't climb or roar. They can't pull in their claws either because they have to run fast and they'd slip on the ground without their claws. They make a nice landing pad. The otters were chasing the streams of water that a zookeeper was spraying from a hose. The zoo also had two jaguars. We could barely see them in the bamboo.

Thursday we hiked in the Everglades. It was not very wet at the beginning, but there were two gigantic puddles that blocked the path. I got bit by an ant but it didn't hurt for very long. Then we went swimming in a pool. Kiara and I made funny slow-motion videos and underwater pictures. We also dove off the pool's edge and played marco polo. Diving was fun!

Friday we left for a hotel. We swam in the pool there too. It had a deep end and we played with the boogie boards. Kiara and I jumped off the deep end and dove and did cannonballs. We also pretended we were shipwrecked and fell off the boogie boards and had to save ourselves. I showed her American Ninja Warrior that night and we made grilled cheese in the toaster and microwave!

Saturday we went to Kennedy Space Center. It was fun! We learned a lot about space. Kiara and I played space kitties. Meow meow meow meow meow. When we went to bed we wanted to tie ourselves together and Kiara told me to wake her up if they tried to take me away.

Sunday my parents snuck me out of bed. It was mean! I didn't even get to say goodbye. I didn't realize I was gone until I was in the car and it was too late to call Kiara. We drove to my uncle's house to spend the night, and Monday we drove home.

My trip to Florida!!

We started in Minnesota on Friday and went all the way to Michigan. We stopped a few times. We played at a playground with a big Michigan on the ground at tye welcome center and I could swing higher than my dad's head. The next stop was at my mom's uncle's house. We found out that Sasha their dog didn't like kids.

The next morning before we left I sat quietly and she came and let me pet her. Then we went to my mom's cousin's wedding shower. We stayed there and I swung higher than the fence and saw a bounce house at a party. We had smores before bed.

The next day we drove through Ohio. We saw my parents' friends. One a church and one at a house. The one at the house was Kree and he had a cat and made the most delicious ribs. And we got chocolate cream pie. That evening we stopped for ice cream with my parents'other friends. Then we made it all the way to eastern North Carolina for my uncle's house. They had a dog named Sydney.

Today we started driving to Florida. Right now we are only a few hours from my friend in Homestead. I get to spend the next five and a half days with her!

Bremen and the Trip Home

Tuesday morning we packed to leave for Bremen. We got on ab S-bahn to go, but Mama didn't pay attention and got off on the wrong stop, so we had to get back on the S-bahn going the other way to catch the ICE (inter city express). After we got in (luckily it was late) we realized it would have stopped at that first station anyway.

We were supposed to transfer to another ICE but missed it because our train was late and that one was on time. So we had to take a regional train - boring! We got out stop too early so we had to take a streetcar in Bremen to the main station. We didn't spend much time in Bremen but we got to see the statue of the musicians of Bremen and kiss a pig statue. We also went inside a church. One of the people in church showed us an 800 year old mouse. She represented the devil and was in the door frame to tell everyone that only nice people come in and mean people stay out.

Then we got on a bus to Hamburg, then the overnight to Copenhagen. In the middle of the night we had a ferry crossing and could really feel the waves. Then we had a three planes and two passport controls before we finally got home!

Because of the time change, I woke up really early yesterday and today. It's not even 5:30 and I've already had breakfast and played Legos!
