My World Vision Project

Last week I watched a video about a girl who had to work in a brick factory and couldn't go to school. I found out some families can't pay for school. This made me sad.

Then I found out that I can help. I decided we could make things and sell them and send the money to people who can help. I am going to make things like charms, bracelets, and other things. My mom says she'll help me sell them, and then we'll give the money to World Vision to help girls all over the world go to school. Click on the tab above or here to see what I've made so far!

Why are there Seasons?

My sister has no school today, but I still have school. My sister drew on the floor with a marker and my mom had to wash her mess. Then she forgot I had skating. But I still forgave her. Today I learned why it is cold in winter. The earth is tipped away from the sun in winter, but in summer we're tilted towards the sun.

(This was written last year but it got reposted to now for some reason.)

Spelling Test!

When I was spelling today, I only got three words wrong. My mom said, "How do you know all those words without even studying them?" I said, "Maybe I knew them from birth! Or I saw them when I was reading." Then I laughed so hard I cried. My list for today was long a words: away, baseball, celebrate, daily, mail, make, may, paint, rain, stay, take, wait, way, yesterday.

My Beehive

This week I started my SciGirls activities. I'm making a garden for my bees to get nectar. My bees can fly to other gardens too. Bees use nectar to make honey. Every beehive needs a queen. The queen is in charge of the hive. She has all of the babies. I've seen real beehives at the Harriet Alexander Nature Center, the Tamarack Nature Center, and the Hyland Lake Park Reserve.
