Animals

May 20 is Endangered Species Day and there are many cats that need help. Take the Jaguar for example, it was hunted for its beautiful coat. The Jaguar lives in South America it is an endangered animal it only lives in the Amazon rainforest. There are two tribes of Indians in the rainforest, are the yanomi the mabuti they are Indians that live in the rainforest. An environmental problem that affects the rainforest is that there is a long road cutting straight through the rainforest.

Weird Weather

Today I had a thunder storm. It is not supposed to happen!!!! It was supposed to snow! Why?

Yesterday I had breakfast at the perky place . I got three pancakes. My grandpa came too. I also had a basketball game.

New Friend!

Two days ago I made a new friend. I found out that we both were very enthusiastic. She has to drive an hour just to get to school! We both are excited about school.

I like school. I like recess, lunch, and everything else. I haven an interesting teacher for music. She's my mother! But someone else teaches recorders. I started learning recorders last week. It's easy to play.

Oops.

I was studying jaguars when... The fire alarm went off! I went outside and ran to the front door. My mom wasn't there!!!!!! (I didn't forget my sister). We made sure that it was done. And then I saw my friend She was playing with her toys.so we played with her.

Library trip

Yesterday I went to the library to get our requested books. I checked out books about fairy's adventures.(they're called the baby animal rescue fairy's).

Birthday

I went to raif's birthday party. I had lots of fun. I played with a girl. I played Jaguars with her. They had a playground and a baseball field and a picnic shelter. By the way what did the birthday boy get for a present ?
He didn't get any presents. Instead everyone donated to a feline shelter.

Birthday party.

Last week we went to Nika's birthday party at her house.I played with JJ.We played, haunted house, jaguars,and safari and camping. I had fun with them.

Michigan!

Last Friday I went to Michigan to see my great Grandma.(and also my family). It was great seeing my second cousins. (It took longer than I expected.)

Nebraska!

Last Friday I went to Nebraska to go to a wedding. It was great meeting my second cousins. We had fun together. We got to go to a swimming pool. It was fun too. The pool was at sleep inn

Camping

I went to Maplewood State Park.It was fun.I went to the pier every day to be able to be by myself. It was so nice and pretty. I also went canoing.so fun.

All by myself!

All by myself. At swimming lessons, I swam by myself! These are what I did.Front, back, and turn over.

Swimming

My first swimming lesson started today. Mama went to the wrong school first. So we had to quickly go to the right swimming pool. I did good for not having goggles. During the floats Kjirsten kicked and swam instead of floating.

Nathaniel's birthday party

At Nathaniel's birthday party I swam in the pool all day long. I got to spend the night at their house. I got to sleep with a girl named Britta. We  played with each other. We loved playing Jaguars together. We fell asleep at 12:30at night. When we woke up we had toast and donuts. Then we went to the pool together.

Bremen and the Trip Home

Tuesday morning we packed to leave for Bremen. We got on ab S-bahn to go, but Mama didn't pay attention and got off on the wrong stop, so we had to get back on the S-bahn going the other way to catch the ICE (inter city express). After we got in (luckily it was late) we realized it would have stopped at that first station anyway.

We were supposed to transfer to another ICE but missed it because our train was late and that one was on time. So we had to take a regional train - boring! We got out stop too early so we had to take a streetcar in Bremen to the main station. We didn't spend much time in Bremen but we got to see the statue of the musicians of Bremen and kiss a pig statue. We also went inside a church. One of the people in church showed us an 800 year old mouse. She represented the devil and was in the door frame to tell everyone that only nice people come in and mean people stay out.

Then we got on a bus to Hamburg, then the overnight to Copenhagen. In the middle of the night we had a ferry crossing and could really feel the waves. Then we had a three planes and two passport controls before we finally got home!

Because of the time change, I woke up really early yesterday and today. It's not even 5:30 and I've already had breakfast and played Legos!

Kiara and Berlin Mitte

On Sunday we went to meet Kiara at the Tiergarten. We played at the beach and in a puddle. We climbed up a fake volcano that shot hot air. Then we ate ice cream. Buy when it came time to say goodbye we kept trying to run away and grip each other tight so we didn't have to let go. I cried on the way home. But we'll visit each other again. Mama and Papa want to visit Florida so we can see her then.

Monday we visited the Reichstag. The audioguide sang and had a narrator, a sheep, and a bush. We saw the Brandenburg gate and the memorial to the Jews in the Holocaust. Then we went to the Ritter sport chocolate store. Yum yum! You could buy a mini meter - a whole meter of chocolate! But it wouldn't fit in our bags. Last we saw Checkpoint Charlie. That separated East and West Berlin. Then we went home to start to pack.

Wittenberg and more Berlin

Friday we started at Treptower park. It had a lot of flowers, and a river with lots of passenger boats. I got my picture next to a jaguar statue. Then we went to the victory tower. To get there we went through a tunnel. It had a movement-detected light so you could dance in front of it and make shapes with your hands. The tower was very tall. It took 285 steps to get up. We could see the Brandenburg gate from the top. It was rainy but after we got down it was sunny again. Last we saw the Gedächtniskirche. It was bombed and only the middle survived. My sister and I lit candles to represent prayer for peace. Outside the church we jumped from circle to circle and pretended that the rest was lava. At the eiscafe we ordered ice cream like a bee - Biene Maja (pronounced Maya). At the fountain by the church I took some underwater pictures.

Saturday we went to Wittenberg. It's important because Martin Luther nailed 95 theses to change the Catholic church. We got to see Martin Luther's house and what it looked like when he was there. We went to church in the town church and sang his most famous hymn "A Mighty Fortress is Our God."

Dresden and Berlin

Tuesday we went to Dresden. We rode in a compartment on the train with exactly six seats and was totally comfy. We had four tables so people could draw if they wanted to. That's what I did most of the ride. In Dresden we went to Altstadt and saw buildings with old and dirty bricks. Mama and Papa told me it got firebombed in WWII. The church we saw got destroyed five times by fire or bombing! I don't know why anyone would do that to a church. We walked up to the top of a church too and could see really far.

Then we walked through the garden along the river and bought some Frozen and Minion books in German! Then we stopped in a plaza and heard porcelain bells. They were neat.

The next day we went to Schloss Charlottenburg. I got to have my own headphones to listen to the tour. The rooms were so pretty! I wish I could live in a castle like that.

Then we went to see Kiara. We played at her house all afternoon. I even got to go shopping and get kinder eggs with Kiara all by ourselves! We played Indians and aliens and other things.

Today we saw Kiara again and played Egyptians on a playground. We made our own tombs. Then we went to dinner for Papa's birthday.

Berlin and Kiara

Yesterday we walked along a painted wall. I took lots of pictures and pretended I was part of the wall. The wall divided East Germany from West Germany in Berlin. Mama said the Russians wanted to keep them separate. Then we walked along a green space with a pond with fountains and found a wooden playground to play the lava game on.

Then we got on a bus to meet Kiara. Kiara couldn't hold her excitement and was jumping up and down when we got off the bus. We played hunters and jaguars on the way to the play area in the park. When it came time to come home Kiara and I wanted to stay together so we stopped at every single little play area, even the small play toys and didn't want to leave unless we went to Kiara's house. So we ate snack together at the bus stop and Mama told me we can see her later.

Today we went to Rathenow. We got to ride a double-decker train there and back. We went to a cemetery to see where Oma's ancestors lived. We didn't find a grave stone with the last name on it, but we did find the church they would have worshiped in. We went up the tower and saw the bell. It was really really really high and we could see lots of towns. We tried to see the optik park but it was closed because the bad weather from a few days ago damaged things.

Instead we came back to Berlin and saw the Olympic Stadium. It was boring except for watching the pool which was awesome because we saw divers and one went to a high platform really high up. If I went up there I would just fall backwards off of it!

First days in Berlin

Yesterday morning we got off the bus in Berlin. We ate a quick breakfast at the train station. We went to our apartment and then we finally changed clothes for the first time in more than two days bcause we couldn't change on the bus or plane.

After lunch we went to the park but Mama had a failure and went the wrong way on the train so we went back and went to a different park that Papa had seen. It had a lot of wet sand and toys and a little wooden house for me to make cone cakes. We went to bed early because we were so tired.

This morning we were still tired and slept late. We went to Peacock Island and it started showering and then raining and then it started downpouring! It was Mama's big failure again. On the island we saw a castle and a peacock up in a tree. For dessert we had ice cream.

First plane ride and new country!

On Wednesday I went on the airplane for the first time. I was so amazed when I looked out the plane window. Everything looked so tiny, like a toy! The first flight was short but the second flight was overnight. When we woke up, we were on the other side of the ocean. We had to do passport control in Amsterdam. I got my first stamp there. I am ten years younger than my mom was when she got her first passport stamp.

Then we flew a short flight to Copenhagen. We were there for twelve hours before the overnight bus to Berlin. We went to the National Museum. It had a fun kids museum but I couldn't make any friends because I couldn't understand them. Kjirsten slept on mom's lap and missed the museum. After that we saw horses in front of the government center and went up the tall tower. Then it was lunchtime.

Kjirsten and I were so tired in Copenhagen that I slept at the restaurant while my grandparents and parents ate, so I had to eat it as a picnic in the park where the little mermaid statue was. It was just a girl with fins. We fed the birds the end of the bread that was too crunchy. Then we walked through the star-shaped island that had a little village (mom says it was an old fort) and an echo rock. We walked through the woods to find Oma and Opa.

Then we went to the castle gardens and saw ducks and walked through the plants and trees there. We were so tired that we just went to the train station and walked around and saw the train model that ran when kids put kroners in. Then we got on the bus. We had to wake up in the middle of the night to ride the ferry. Then we slept again and woke up this morning in Berlin.

So excited!

There is only one more day before the day we leave for Germany! Yesterday my grandma and grandpa came to see us before we left. Tomorrow my other grandparents will come and spend the night so we can go to the airport together. I won't be able to be able to sleep, it will be so much fun!!

Almost Germany!

It is almost Germany time!!! There are only eight more days!! I can't wait to see the peacocks on Peacock Island and the castles. I can't wait to fly on the plane either. Yay!

Solos!

For confirmation I got to "Seek Ye First" as a small group with the big kids' choir. For the concert, I get a solo for "Oh Every Morn."

oh! what weather can do!

on Saturday there was a tornado warning! There was circulation in the clouds! We drove home Sunday. Then the windshield wiper broke!(the rain did it)

Piano Recital

Last Saturday I had my piano recital. There were nine students who played. I played "War Song" and "Lord You Are." Before the recital we celebrated my mom's Master's Degree. After the recital we all ate and filled ourselves up with cake! I had two slices.

Birthday!

Conner's birthday party was yesterday! In my goody bag I got Legos. We played Jenga, Dino Dice, Machi Koro. We also decorated cookies. I ate all of my cookies. It was fun!

Germany trip!

We are six weeks away from going to Germany. I'm so excited! I get to see my friend and visit a new country. I already have my passport. Yesterday I even dreamed about going to Germany on a plane. I thought it was real! I can't wait!

Testing week!

Last week I had my tests. They were easy. I had to take tests for math, science, social studies, maps, dictionary reading, and writing. My mom told me it was impossible to get 100 because that means I'd beat myself! I got to go to school all day every day, except the day I got sick in the morning.

Ice show weekend!

I had my ice show last weekend. It was fun!! I got a treat for the end of my last ice show. My treat was fruit snacks !!! My favorite thing was my part in the show. My trick was two jumps and then backward skating.

Ice Show

On Saturday I had ice show pictures. I like my costume. It's bright yellow. We rehearsed the finale last week. Two of my friends are in the ice show too, so it's fun to practice with them.

Last night we went for a walk. My mom and dad make my sister walk too, even when she whines. They say we need to get ready for walking around Germany this summer!

Spring break!

On Monday we went to the Mall of America.We had a Mystery Ticket. It was for a whole day of rides! We went on rides until I realized it was after 5:00 and I was hungry. Then we ate at Noodles & Company and had dessert at Cold Stone Creamery.

Yesterday we went to the Science Museum with Uncle Jon and his friend Kim. It was fun! I tried to pull the fish with my hands and then I stepped on the part I had pulled so I could pull the rope down more. I also played with the hydraulic circuit.

Karate Test

Today we're going to have a karate test. It is going to be easy. I know all the moves: star block, all the types of kicks, checking the storm, and the sparring combinations. I like karate because it helps make me safer. I learn the moves, but I also learn safety topics like ice safety, water safety, car safety, and awareness.

Community Showcase!

We went to a community showcase at the high school where Papa went. We saw lots of his marching band trophies, played a fun matching card game, built a bird house, broke boards with our feet, and used iron filings to dust for our fingerprints. The police man told us that no two fingerprints are exactly alike, even on twins! That's why they can be used for identification.

Free Cone Day!

Free Cone Day was Monday. We went to Dairy Queen for a free cone. I got mine in a cone but my sister had hers in a cup. We went with friends, and one of them got a cup, one got a cone, and one got a cup with a cone on top! We didn't eat outside because it started to rain a little bit. My friend and I did not like that so we stayed under the roof until it started blowing in. Then we ran to the car like we were about to get drenched, even though it wasn't really raining hard.

Oma & Opa!

My parents told us we get to go to Oma & Opa's today! I'm very excited. We'll celebrate pi with them. Pi is when you measure around a circle (circumference) and divide it by the part across the circle (diameter). I learned that from reading a book, about Sir Cumference. I have six books about Sir Cumference and they're all about math. My daddy tells me to stop reading and get so smart, but I think he's just kidding. I hope he is. I want to be really smart!

Magic Show!

I loved the magic show. It was funny because he pretended that tricks were so fast he was watching and he didn't know what was going to happen. When he tried to put a hot dog in the hat more hot dogs kept popping up - two, then three, then four......until he had a dozen hot dogs! Then after that they turned into a long string of hot dogs. It made me hungry. I want to learn how to do some magic tricks. We should go to the library and get a book for that!

Ice Skating!

I like ice skating lessons. It is fun and athletic. I get to go twice a week - Tuesday night and Thursday mornings. That means I have two PEs on Tuesday because I get PE at school, and three on Thursday because I have PE at school and karate at night. Sometimes I'm really active at home for extra PE too.

There will be an ice show at the end of April. Rehearsals start next week. I loved the ice show last year because I got to show off my class's ice moves and my mom and dad both shone a pink light on me when I did my trick. They do the spotlights. I think I'll get to do a better trick this year because I am in Alpha.

Fun Weekend Ahead!

I got invited to a birthday party on Saturday. I hope it will be lots of fun. I can't wait to go! Afterwards we're coming back to my school to watch an illusionist perform at an auction to raise money for my school. On Sunday I have another birthday party and I'll be singing in church! It will be a fun weekend.

Science fun!

Yesterday my sister and I did Snaptricity circuits for science. We tested our light circuits by going into the basement to see how bright it got. We also powered a fan and made it fly up into the air. Circuits can help move electricity. For a circuit to work, it has to be a shape that connects sides or the electricity won't go through.

On Monday we learned about Canada lynx. In the winter they are whitish gray and when it gets warmer they turn more brown. They change colors so they can blend in with their habitat. Their coats are also thicker in the winter to keep them warmer. Canada lynx don't hibernate, like some animals. 

One animal that hibernates is a groundhog. When it's hibernating it only breathes once every six minutes! Some animals don't get enough oxygen in the winter, like fish. Sometimes the water freezes and there isn't enough oxygen in the water. Then the fish die, and this is called winter kill. Then in the spring the dead fish get washed up onto the shore. That happens at the park near us. Then it smells funny, like dead fish.

German lesson!

Today I gave a German lesson to my sister's class and my class. It was fun! After a little bit of school and the German lesson, I got to eat some German chocolate. We taught the classes some German songs. They had to guess what the English ones were. I'm wearing my dirndl today!

More Legos!

We went to the Lego store to spend some money we saved up. My sister and I got Cloud Cuckoo Palace and the double decker couch. My dad got Benny's spaceship but he won't let us play with it.

Late nights

We got to stay up late two nights in a row. The first night was for the sleepover the second night was for the gala at my dad's school . We got to watch movies on the big screen. Frozen and the lego movie. Everything is awesome everything is cool when you're part of the team!

Birthday recap

That is the birthday party we ate pizza. We made owl shirts. We watched frozen. We had a dance party. we got to stay up really late and eat pancakes in the morning!

Sleepover party!

Today I am going to Isabelle's birthday party. It is a sleepover birthday party. We are going to eat pizza. My sister is coming too. It will be lots of fun.

Talent Show!

At the talent show which was yesterday I played let it go on the piano. My sister did karate. I thought it was lots of fun.

Chapel today

Today I hosted Chapel with the other second graders. I got to do the benediction. We sang listen God is calling and the morning prayer.  the Bible story was about Eli and Samuel. Samuel thought it was Eli calling him but it was really God.

German Story #2

I had to write a fiction story in German - one that had lies or exaggerations.

Heute morgen war ich im Fahrradtunnel. Ich habe ein sprechendes Krokodil gesehen. Er hat gesagt, er kann mich nach Afrika bringen. Wir sind in ein Kanalisation gegangen. Wir sind eintausend Meter weg ausgekommen. Wir waren schon in Afrika!

This morning I was in the bike tunnel. I saw a talking crocodile. He said, he can take me to Africa. We went in the sewer. We got out one thousand meters away. We were already in Africa!

German story

Today I wrote this story as part of my German.

Lena ist auf Urlaub am Strand. Sie hat ein Delfin gesehen. Lena hat mit dem Delfin geschnorchelt.. Ihr Bruder Friedrich hat einen Krampf in der Wade bekommen. Er musste zurück gehen. Es gab Friede auf die Koralle mit den Fischen.

Lena is on vacation at the beach. She saw a dolphin. Lena snorkeled with the dolphin. Her brother Friedrich got a cramp in his calf. He had to go back. There was peace on the coral with the fish.

Visit from Uncle John

Uncle Jon came to visit this week. And played Minecraft on his computer. Also plays plants vs zombies. He babysat us one night. I love my uncle Jon!

Christmas Break

I had fun over break. I went to three museums, a waterpark (it was inside), and Nickelodeon Universe. We also visited both our grandmas and grandpas. We played with the dogs. We played Minecraft with my uncle. I got a brain benders book. I also got new pajamas!!

School started again today. I had family group time and there's a new student in my class. I'll meet him later today.
